Barr is currently undergoing a major transformation.

Our home on Strandgade is being reimagined—both the main dining room and Upstairs at Barr—as we shape the next chapter of what Barr can be. We are planning to reopen towards the end of May, with Upstairs at Barr to follow in mid-June.

Barr has always grown from the Northern Sea coastlines and their culinary traditions—a way of sharing the food and ingredients of our region with friends from near and far. A space to gather, to share food, and to enjoy time together.

Located in a historic warehouse on Copenhagen’s waterfront, once home to our sister restaurant noma, Barr continues to carry that spirit forward—rooted in craft, shaped by the seasons, and inspired by the shared table.

Our cooking draws from the regions surrounding the North and Baltic Seas—connected through traditions of salt, grain, preservation, and fermentation. Here, these influences come together in produce-led, generous dishes, made to be shared.

Lunch will return with our take on traditional Danish smørrebrød, while dinner continues to celebrate the best of the region through seasonal, hearty cooking.

Launching in mid-June, Upstairs at Barr will offer a dedicated space for private and semi-private gatherings—ranging from intimate dinners and celebrations to weddings, confirmations, and small conferences.

Set above our main dining room and overlooking Copenhagen’s harbour, the space is designed for hosting—warm, relaxed, and tailored to each occasion.

With its own kitchen, Upstairs at Barr will be serviced independently, allowing us to create menus specifically for your group—rooted in the seasons and shaped around the Barr way of sharing food.

Whether you are planning a seated dinner or a more flexible gathering, our team will be on hand to coordinate every detail and create a memorable experience.
